my goal is heaven... what is yours?

girlfriend? boyfriend? wife? husband? kids? ... love?

results? career? ... achievements?

house? car? ... possessions?

i want a girlfriend, who will eventually be my wife. we'll have kids, and we'll be a family. i want to do well in NUS law, perhaps becoming a lawyer and doing respectably well, supporting my family. i want a house to live in where my family and i can be comfortable. i want a lot of things in life.

but not as much as i want to go to heaven. above everything else, above achievements, above earthly possessions, and even above love, i want god. why? because only he is eternal. only heaven is everlasting.

what happens when a man dies? does he bring his house and car with him to heaven/hell? does his school or occupation mean anything up/down there? love... love is tricky. some say love transcends everything. i agree. god's love does. unconditional, unending, unwavering. that doesn't mean he doesn't rebuke/punish. but when he does rebuke/punish, it doesn't mean he doesn't love. human love... sadly, can betray, has its limits, can end. but i still believe in it. not nearly as much as god's love though.

why settle for what is temporal when we can have the eternal? when a man dies, all that is on earth, stays on this earth. that which is in heaven... lives forever.

my goal is heaven... what is yours?
'Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.' Philippians 3:13-14
