Harlow, here are some instructions for counsellors. which is hopefully all of us...
for those who already know the following, please read again to familiarize... =)
Event: “More to This Life” Venue: SAJC Cultural Center Dates: 30th July, 4pm
Altar Call
Ø Proceed to the front when the altar call is given.
Ø Go to a counselee (same gender if possible) and stand behind them.
Ø Take instructions from the Speaker (Rev. Joshua S.).
Counseling
Ø Self- introduction—smile and let the counselee fee comfortable, affirm counselee of his/her decision.
Ø Fill up the response slip (counselor to do the filling up).
1. Ask for important information: Name, Tel No., Age, Name of Friend/Child who invited them.
2. Ask the counselee to indicate which ‘option’ he/she responded to.
“describe the terms”
3. Confirm if he/she understood what he/she responded to.
“ Do u understand what your response means?”
- If Salvation: Assurance of salvation-what it means to have given his/her life to Christ. If needed – 4 Spiritual Laws, depending how clear he/she is of what that step means.
- If Dedication: Encourage them to walk faithfully with God hence forth, taking active steps to grow in Christ. - go back to church he/she attended; if lost contact with former church, encourage to join us for service & cell.
4. Pray for counselee, according to his/her response and any other prayer needs if he/she has.
5. Share the importance of GROWING in their faith. Invite to cell and service.
Ø Give counselee the counseling pack and explain that the reading materials are for them to read for further understanding.
Ø Return the RESPONSE SLIPS to the Response Slips box.
“Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give
the reason for the hope that you have…” 1 Peter 3:15
