Word- God's Message

ARE YOU TAKING GOD SERIOUSLY TODAY?

Jac shared 3 simple issues today, but it made everyone ponder...

Issue 1
Unity among believers

"I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."
- John 17:23
Jac's context of the verse:
" Jesus in us and God in Jesus. May us be brought to complete unity to let the world know that God send Jesus and have loved us even as God have loved Jesus."
- John 17:23
Question to ponder
1) What is your definition of Unity?
2) What are the positive actions that you have contributed to the cell group that others (non-christians)might see and know that the cell group is united as one?
3) What are the negative actions that you have brought upon the cell group?
4) Have you ever avoided someone, cause you are biased against them? or you're afraid others might judge you? Or you just despise that person?
Have you ever acted artificially and act like a Hi/bye friend? Why don't we make the extra effort? are we afraid that by knowing that person, we will be hurt? or that person will eventually take something away from us?
How can you be united with each other if you don't love them? God has sent us out together.
"My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified."
-John 17: 15-18
Jesus sent his discipleS out together. Jesus used the word 'them' , which is a collective term. Hence, by using the word 'them', that means we're on the same side. 'if a house were to stand against each other, how can the house stand tall and be firm?'
How then can we be sent out to fulfil God's purpose if we stand divided? Yes. It may not be easy to get out of your comfort zone, because of emotions and feelings. But bear in mind, God is almighty. It starts with our attitude. If we are willing to change, God will change you and your mindset.
Issue 2
Word of God
Do you hunger for God's word? (Present context)
Have you EVER hunger for God's word? (Past context)
How important is God's word to you? What have you been doing about it?
'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."
-John 1:1
In John 1:1 it says the Word was with God, and the Word was God, If you always long for God's presence, don't you think His word is equally important, because the Word was God?
Have you been seperating God and his Word as two different context?
If something is important to you, won't you do everything in your power to be kept updated as all course? E.g Soccer. If you want to know whether Chelsa has won or lose? won't you wake up in the morning just to watch the match? read the newpaper? straits times? listent to radio to hear the results? talk about it among your friends? What about God? Is He important to you?
How do you think God's word has impacted your life?

Issue 3
Open Heart

"For the word of god is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the hearts. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account"
-Hebrew 4:12-13
Yes. You allow God to control your life, but did you allow Him to control EVERYTHING in your life? Did you leave out certain issues in your life to handle it by yourself? thinking that you are capable in solving? or you're too shy to bring it up to God? By trusting God and having a open heart, it also shows how much you love God.
How open are you to God?
Are we just sitting around waiting for someone to share with us their prophecy for our future/life? or are you sitting down and meditating on God's word, asking him to reveal his purpose for you? Sometimes when you come across some verses you don't understand, do you just find those verses that speaks to you? or is it because it sounds good (verse) that's why you're reading it? Did you take time to meditate and ask God what those verses means when you have no clue what it was talking about? or do you just skip?
Jac closed with..
" Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. these commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts."
- Deuteronomy 6:4-5
if you love God with all your HEART, MIND, SOUL AND STRENGTH, wouldn't you want to spend time with Him?
